Well basically a few years ago before I had a computer that could play decent games, I used to spend my time on the net, learning how to hack, learning how do web design and programming and spending time being fascinated by all the smart people I talked to on IM and on forums. Then one day my friend got me to start playing call of duty 1 with him and we played it for hours everyday. Here I am about 4 years later and I've completely lost my concentration, my passion and my mental ability. I find it hard to keep the concentration to read these days or learn anything which is why I didn't care about school and done crap this year.
I really need to get out of this so could you guys please offer any advice on how to get back into things of this nature? Anyone ever went through something like this? I've thought about uninstalling windows and forgetting about games and installing linux and that would you know make me learn and make me adapt and get me away from time wasting.
Like what should I get involved in programming wise really any advice that comes to mind just throw at me please.
I know this may not be the standard thread you get in this place but I really have no idea how to stop being such a detached day dreamer and get back to being a thinker. Thanks.

obviously i wud do that if i knew what the windows mouse speed = in cs sensitivity. Unfortunatly i dont, unless you know you cant call anyone a noob. So mr. twat, dont fucking flame people , post your own comments or help or have a nice big cup of STFU ill own u in any game "noob"

Hey well im a gamer and i like to use windows mouse speed at 5/11 notches (control panel > mouse) anyway i put it to 5 but after i reboot it resets back to 6 this means before i can start playing cs 1.6 i need to go into control panel > mouse settings and change it. This is very annoying and frustrating.
Anyways do you guys have any solutions?
Like is there a command to set the windows mouse speed and i could use that in an autoexec batch file on boot or something like that?

Hey well im unhappy with the bittorrent download speeds im getting. On a standard download from a website i max out my 250kb download speed but on bittorrent even with a decent ammount of seeders and peers i get 60kb download speed if im lucky. This sucks. Im using a router and adsl.
Download Speed : 2.5Mbps
Upload Speed : 241.2 Kbps
Ive got DMZ on my router running for this computers local ip address since its the only computer on the network and its hardware firewall off and im also running windows sp1 without any security programs (heh i dont care about security so i dont want a lecture and im a hardcore gamer. Every Frame per seconds a prisoner :> )
So anyone got any ideas how i could improve my download speeds ?
Like could some of you gurus give me settings i should apply on my bittorrent program (azureus atm but ill change if one of you guys recommends a better client) like max upload slots and max download slots etc...
Or any other advice you could give me like stuff i could do in windows to improve my bittorrent speeds.

Hey well ive found this program and i really like it and i need it atm for this clan im in so they dont know its me who has rejoined :P
So umm the trial for the software is only 6 days and i know with most trials you just set your date back on your computer but its not the case with this one since it connects to an online server to determine the date and time and how long uve been using :( so if i were to uninstall the software what would i need to do to get a new trial without the new install reconising there was an old one and that the trial is complete? Like regedit n' stuff? i will be buying the program when i get the money btw :).

1. i took that screen shot at the time of the event and sent it to friend to be like omg wtf am i going to do.
2. After that i wiped my harddrive and reinstalled xp that only takes about 30 min max on my comp which has.
1512mb ram
2.8ghz p4
256mb video card
3. i put the screenshot up after someone asked for it.
4. I didnt think this was all illegal i was only using a serial my friend told me to use.
Im not some hacker that uses warez n cracks n shit.

Hey well ive been getting problems with watching streaming video recently, mostly on ggl tv, the sound on the files are all like messed up and slow like all voices become like very very deep n stuff and the video goes slower.
What programs should i use to watch streams
Eg. Codecs, programs and browser.
Also any other configs i mite do to the software to stop the problem above.
Ive tried installing wm10, latest firefox, latest internet explorer, shockwave player, flash player, real player free, quicktime and itunes and i still cant get it to work.
Please help ggl tv is my fav. thing to watch.
If it helps the bitrate is a constant 409 or sumin whatever that means.
If you guys want a screen cap video of the problem just ask.

hey well i installed a bit of software and used a serial number my friend gave me for it , then my computer rebooted after the software told me to then a window came up saying you are using an illeagal serial number, your ip and isp information has been sent to company name for investigation then it said something like become legal and buy a licence (link) to there buy page on there site.
the window also displayed my ip address.
So now im paranoid and crapping it , i didnt know it was illeagal or that.
Anyway so is this just scare tactics to get ppl using ilegal serials to buy or am i going to get fined or something.
I live in the uk and the company is pgsoft in colarado, usa, you think i will get fined or taken to court or something ? im only 14!

I've been thinking of getting back into c++ but I'm hitting a kind of writers block, like I have no idea what to create with a basic-novice level of knowledge from reading books and such.
What sort of stuff do people normally code at this level?
