Well, what would you prefer them to do?
They can't use a valid IP as there will be people who will try to access that IP to see what, if anything, is there years after the program has run its course. Imagine if the movie Hackers had an actual IP in there. Would you resist the temptation to nmap that thing? Honestly? Stop lying!
They could use an IP from one of the private IP blocks. 172.../12 would be best because in my experience it's used the least of the 3 so there's a fair chance only people 'in the know' will realize it's private. If they were to use an 192.168/16 IP there's a chance noobs will end up hacking their home router and a 10/8 IP might be taken at their place of work.
Aside from making up an IP that is known to be incorrect, what would you suggest they do?
Actually, what they should've done is pick a private IPv6 address! Even less people are currently using it and there's a VAST space to play with there.
Hey that's exactly what I was thinking! Did you hack my brain man?

What kind of trouble? we need more info so we can help you

That's nice. Did you already decide what's going to be written on his tombstone?
Actually I was thinking about something like "The Galaxy Smasher"

Yea updating myself atm, wondering if updating my Nethunter N7 2013 will be worth the headache and if external wifi drivers are working on it for the Lollipop build as I haven't see anything about it on the official forums.
It's totally worth the update
JUST DO IT!

I'm addicted to Wireless adapters! HELP!

Thanks for replaying man, now I can take a break
I thought I was doing something wrong

Hi,
I just done some tests using Pine-AP and karma against multiple Android devices
On Kitkat 4.4 it worked perfectly! I was surprised by how powerful it was! however on lollipop 5.1 it didn't :(
Is this normal? Did google finally fixed this issue or maybe I am doing something wrong? Please anyone... -
Just found this : http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2uyw50/wifi_privacypolice_prevents_your_smartphone_or/
I think google hired this guy to implement some sort of strict policy in Lollipop, or they just copied him -
I've been playing around with this lately, I've tested it against some android and Apple devices
On Android (kitkat) and iOS, Pine-AP worked every time, however on Lollipop 5.1 it didn't work
I can see all the probe requests, Pine-AP is doing it's magic, but Lollipop is just not vulnerable -
Here is a good 5GHz wifi adapter that should work in kali linux
Alfa AWUS051NH v2
However I heard that some people had some issues with the drivers so you might go through a nightmare there to get it working
here is a video I found on youtube to clear things up (dig in the comments section) -
Mine works just fine in client mode.
It could be your power adapter. I've no clue where my pineapple adapter went. I'm running off a linksys wrt-54gl wall wart.
Your pic reminded me to buy some Velcro, Thanks!

Re-flashing or upgrading to 2.4 Solved the Issue!
YES! -
You quoted his fix - reflashing it ;)
I upgraded to 2.4 and it's now working fine!
-
I think you can as long as you are not using wlan1 for client mode, don't take my word for it though
Give it a shot and let us know -
You quoted his fix - reflashing it ;)
lol! I was too tired to actually read, you have no idea how much time I spent trying to fix this issue
I'm gonna try re-flashing and get back to you
Thanks everyone!

Reflash fixed it.
I have the same issue! How did you fix it man?

Does your connection between the pineapple and your laptop change ip address when you enable ics? I think I remember someone else noticing Windows 8 does that.
First off, I'm sorry I couldn't replay earlier, there is a limit
It does change, and you have to change it back to 172.16.42.42 to get access to the pine, all works fine but no internet connection being provided
Anyway man thank you for actually caring and I hope that I could find a solution to this annoying issue!
-
Right, but without seeing what your laptop is showing you, we really can't help you.
Just a WAG, but make sure your firewall is turned off.
I'm sorry man I should have provided more info.
Here is my whole setup and what I did:
My network gateway: 10.0.0.138
Windows 8.1 Pro
Here is a screenshot of my network adapters (and an ipconfig)
Here is a screenshot from my Pineapple after following the exact steps in Darren's video:
Also I tried turning of my Anti-virus, and firewall...Booted up Ubuntu off of usb and tried again...no luck!
I started to suspect that it might be my Internet connection
Thanks for the replay man! I truly appreciate it!

Show us your steps, preferably with screenshots. Or barring that, cut and paste the commands and output into code boxes.
I used these same exact steps that Darren showed us
Basically I'm trying to give my pineapple internet access using the ethernet port, my laptop is connected via wireless
I connected the ethernet cable to my laptop, followed the exact same steps in Darren's video, played around for hours...nothing worked man!

Hello Everyone!
it's been 7 hours now, and I still cannot connect my pineapple to the internet via ICS (using ethernet of course)
I tried it in windows, Linux and changed the ethernet cable...Nothing workedI can connect to the pineapple, no problem it's just the ICS
Any help? please
