If you can't work out how to do it, here's a few simple steps.
1) Unplug power cord.
2) Throw power cord in bin.
3) GTFO.

Another comical insident where you have to edit the registary is this:
You have a brand new install of windows, you open explorer go Tools > Folder Options... Then open File Type, select "File Folder" click advanced. You then having opened this menu ONLY (and nothing else) click ok, and sudderly every time you double click a directory in explorer it open the find dialog... yep, you have to edit the registarty to fix that one.
No you don't, you just have to change one of the options in that advanced dialog to point to c:/windows/explorer.exe

My PC, and Laptop hardware work under both Windows and Linux, win? Plus both my laptops wireless chipset works in Linux perfectly for me.
Didn't you sell your old laptop on ebay and buy a new one because you couldn't get the hardware to work in Linux? :)

You want to tunnel all your HTTP traffic over SSH. Use a dynamic port forward, which essentially creates a proxy server. I pretty much covered exactly how to do this in my segment in episode 3 of BSoD, which you'll find at www.bsodtv.org :)
