  1. My trouble is coming part way through the boot process on Ubuntu and Kubuntu (so far, and no problems with Backtrack or CrunchBang), it comes up trying to load from a CD.

Part way through booting on the screen it says

Begin trying nfs mount -o nolock -o ro 192.168.0.12:/tftpboot/Ubuntu/10.04LTS/32bit/Gnome /cdrom

Then continues for a few seconds and then stops at

    Using CD-ROM mount point /cdrom/
Identifying.. [random set of alphanumeric characters changing every time]

Is there a way to turn off looking for a /cdrom/ device? Here is one of my menus I have set up:

    LABEL 21
MENU LABEL Ubuntu 10.04LTS 32bit, Desktop (Gnome interface)
    		KERNEL /Ubuntu/10.04LTS/32bit/Gnome/casper/vmlinuz
    		APPEND initrd=/Ubuntu/10.04LTS/32bit/Gnome/casper/initrd.lz boot=casper text rootfstype=nfs root=/dev/nfs netboot=nfs nfsroot=192.168.0.12:/tftpboot/Ubuntu/10.04LTS/32bit/Gnome
    	TEXT HELP
Boot Ubuntu 10.04LTS 32bit, Desktop (Gnome interface)
    	ENDTEXT

  2. I ran through the logs, apparently tftp was crashing, but I got that fixed. I was wondering if you could help out with booting to isolinux? I get the gist of vmlinuz but I can't quite figure out the menu options for isolinux. Sorry that boot loaders are relatively new to me.

Skip my last question about isolinux, I figured it out. But I am having a few problems with some distros that are checking for CD devices with mounted media during the bootup (and not loading). I have found this (so far) in Kubuntu and Fedora, and I still have more to test. This also comes up with BSD based distros I have tried as well, I used memdisk and the actual iso for those because I have no idea where the bootable images or what they are named.

On an upside though, using memdisk to boot an iso I got an Acronis recovery media and Konboot to load from PXE, though I am not sure if Konboot actually works.

  3. Does it say which file is not found? Check the logs on your pfSense and PXE server. Probably want to look for logs from the daemons you set up: dhcpd, tftpd, and nfsd.

  4. I think I'll jump in here with my problem. I have followed the directions 3 times now (with minor changes like IP addresses and directory locations) I have checked everything over and over and I keep getting a file not found error on the PXE server. I've come down to thinking it's my dhcp server. I am using pfSense and that uses dhcpd, so the config has next-server set to 192.168.0.12 and filename "pxelinux.0" (with the quotes). So, if anyone has any ideas, fire away.

  5. the problem i have, that others have had, is that it wants to save the php files. i have triple checked and tested everything over and over again (i have 24 redirect.php files in my download folder). i have changed things back and forth for testing and nothing seems to work. i did follow the how-to's and tested (and backed up configs and /www after each step) everything works fine except for php

my php.ini has the "cgi.force_redirect = 0", i have tried no "=" and no spaces, and even put in 1 to see what would happen.

in httpd.conf i have the "*.php:/usr/bin/php", i even looked to make sure php was in /usr/bin/ but no luck with that fixing anything.

i can rickroll, access jasager, or any html file just fine (moved webif to admin.html) but any php file it tries to download in chrome and firefox, ie just displays and unprocessed php file.

the only thing i have left to try before a reflash is reinstalling php and php-cgi. I really don't know what else to do, so any help would be appreciated.

as a side question: i cant get an ip address from the pineapple through wifi on my linux laptop (using wicd). is this common? meaning that linux cannot be tricked by the pineapple?
