  1. LOL..that was my wife. We had a miscommunication with Lost, we thought he said he would give us the badge and the hint after the "making the badge" talk. We left after that and went somewhere ( I forget where ) and someone came up to us and said they were trying to find us. So we went back and got that badge. My wife wasn't going to go back and I told her they would not remember me she would have go with me. Which was good because they sure as hell didn't remember me but spotted her as we walked in...lol

Project 2 was set up in sections and point based. The sections got more and more difficult as you solved each item or in the case of the radio stream a set of puzzles with varying difficultly.

I was able to start with a lot of points because I completed the pre-con challenge ( generalstatics.com ). They told me I was the only one to finish it. I think this was because people didn't know about it. The guy who got the most points was a machine. He completed so many of challenges that no one could have beat him.

  2. I was there but I spent to much time working on Badge(thursday/friday) and Project2 (the rest of time). I won the EFF auction for the prototype badge and got some hints for the badge contest. I did buy another ubertooth and bump key set.

It was nice to have DCTV back.I stopped going when they switch to Riv because of that (expect for last year).

  3. Yeah, those drive will put out a lot of heat. I still say just storage array. It could be clustered but I don't think that has anything to do with the 42 drives..

I think it is 42 based on counting them which may be off. My guess is 3 raid cards 12 channels each for 36 drives and 6 on-board sata to round out to 42.

I have done several supermicro storage arrays but only 16 drives.

My only question is about the power supply. It looks like it is around the back.

  4. Disabling right-click in browser is a function of javascript. All you need to do is call your own function that enables the function.

Greasemonkey is a good tool for that. Search for it and you will find a few different solutions.

Or, if you really want to strip the site you can try wget with some options set and you can grab more than you would think..(search for that also)

  5. Anyone tried this?

    http://www.darknet.org.uk/2011/06/metasploitable-test-your-metasploit-against-a-vulnerable-host/

Ok so you’ve got Metasploit loaded up, you’ve read the Metasploit Tutorials & Watched the Videos – but you’ve still got no idea what to do next and don’t have anything to test against.

It’s not exactly new, but I guess a lot of people still don’t know about it. Basically if you don’t know what to do next, this is where Metasploitable comes in! One of the questions that the Metasploit developers often hear is “What systems can I use to test against?” Based on this, they thought it would be a good idea throw together an exploitable VM that you can use for testing purposes.

  6. The fact you have to define tau as a multiple of pi defeats the entire purpose of the system. There are a ton of formulas that us pi ( http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PiFormulas.html ) not to mentions function like Euler's identity..

I know they go one and explain how the how the sin/cos go to 1, but they don't go into the utter crap of dealing with 1 as a mathematical problem is solving equations.

I won't even go into the unit circle. Tau is what mathematician who need to produce a paper come up with, dig around for math constance and see the crazy number theory of meaningless mathematical observation!!! Insane.

Keep in mind, I am half joking about this..but to prove my point I will show without a doubt why tau is wrong!!

    Are you ready?

There is no tau key on any calculator!! Therefore the tau is a lie!

    Happy 2pi day!

  7. Tau bugs me. lets substitute a value to make a small set of equations look better?? When was the last time you measured the radius of anything? Never! You measured the diameter. On a physical application it is utterly stupid. On a pure mathematical application, it doesn't matter. If you have a problem using pi do not use math..at all...ever..you might cause a fire.

  8. Wow, got that wrong.

Yeah, not sure I see the use of that. The only thing I could think would be to have a second workspace on a second monitor if your video card could not handle the screen resolution, which would infer that the card could not handle two monitors.

I am curious about the nature of the need.

    ..

Depending on distro, this can be done, found a few solutions. Google and ye shall find.

who would have thought. not me.

  9. Virtualbox does have an option for multiple displays. When you set it for 2 monitors (it will go up to 8) another screen comes up. You can do it with some tinkering but like Mr-Protocol said "it defeats the whole point of virtual desktops"

Was there some specific reason for it?

  10. I do not think we will ever know the real reason but these were posted a day before lulzsec dropped off:

I am more curious about what will happen with twitter account and web hosting account. It is clear they have broken laws and they have physical footprints. Will or have twitter or hosting site given or will give log info to any agencies that send warrants and such.

  11. First I have heard of Derbycon. Looks like first year. Might have to try to make it over there.

I had a few guys bail out this year on me for defcon so I am debating on going. I am excited about the sessions being piped into the rooms again like when it was at Riv but really really disappointed that the badges will not be electronic.

  12. A few things:

    1) look for what you need in a cakephp mod or whatever they are called.

    2) It looks like your using jquery or cake is using jquery..are the files included on page or in the cakephp ini/cfg files?

    3) The call to '/captcha' as the reload element most likely would have to be a actual path since cakephp in MVC system, there is a controller parsing everything to the proper location.

  13. Favourite game: TF2 /DoD:S
