  1. this method could easily be beaten by disabling javascript and flash in your browser whenever you are using the tor network (which you shouldnt need if you are using the tor network for something specific). also routing all dns lookups through tor adds another layer of security.

  2. ive got a 20gig 4th gen. it was free* so it gets cool points for that. It also came with an itrip (FM broadcaster) so i can play my music on any radio. it also gets a lot of use as portable storage for large files,.

    * my mom's husband bought a new truck and they included the ipod+itrip with it, and he didnt know wtf to do with it, so i took it off his hands.

  3. i think the first time i used linux was through a shell account a friend set up for me on his box about 8 or 9 years ago. now-a-days i run slackware on my 2 computers, one being my laptop, the other my server. i dont have a windows partition since i dont need windows for anything. i can use my ipod, digital camera, usb floppy drive (trash picked) external lcd monitor for laptop (trash picked), and usb memory stick with no problems. screw windows, its a hulking spyware ridden piece of trash full of government backdoors and its crippled by design.

  4. if you want have a more secure tor session make sure your browser does all its dns lookups through the proxy, otherwise it will leak info about your real ip. here is a guide for firefox, the page also has more browsers. http://wiki.noreply.org/noreply/TheOnionRo...fc2f3e0a5b1c166

if you do this you will also have access to the hidden .onion domain. here is a link to test if you can access it: http://n4ez7vf37i2yvz5g.onion/howtos/ExitT....html#id2474002

I like Tor thus far what I would like to do is to get it to work with trillian and nott crash and posable azures but so far im happy , tho not enof people run servers blah.

oh and please dont run torrents through Tor, it rapes all the bandwidth from everyone else.

  5. Setting up an email server is NOT that hard, you just edit a few files with a text editor. Here is a good guide: http://shilo.is-a-geek.com/sendmail18.html

As far as an easy way to use the server after it is running, a previous poster suggested squirrelmail which is really good, i use it too. the only thing is that you have to have a webserver running also since squirrelmail is just a web based front end to the email daemon.

Otherwise you could just use Thunderbird to connect the pop3 port on the server...all of this is fairly simple to do, unless you are lazy and do not like *reading* and *learning*, and if that is the case, what are you doing here in the first place?
