Sorry for the double post, but here is some more details on whats happening. It shows no indication that it's on the charger any more, opposed to when it was stock it had the ambalamps on the front showing it was charging, etc... Even on the charger and no battery, it just sits there. If it is bricked and the only way to flash it is to JTAG it, I'll sell it. JTAG'ing looks way too complicated and i don't even want to try it

Episode 7x03
in Hak5
I enjoy the bike talk. It helps break up the tech segments. I love gettin' brain-blasted with hacking, but sometimes you need a palet (sp?) cleanser, and the bike segments seem to do the job well.
Back on-topic, the episode was awesome! I'll have to look into using sandboxes

Dead battery? It doesn't even seem like its trying to do anything at all.
It does the same exact thing when it's on the charger

Theres a link to a video that I made with the webcam in my MBP showing what it's doing

My MacBook Pro. I stumbled upon a Minimalist Mac article and was hooked. I love how it's setup now

I tried what Bob Dole said in his post, but it doesn't seem to be working. I guess I'm going to have to do the serial hack, but I have no idea where to get the stuff to do it, or what to do with the wire after I'm finished. I really dont want a wire hanging out of my ZipIt when I'm finished.
It also isn't helping that I switched from Windows to Linux half way through the flash (not my fault, my Windows took a shit and I can't find my Windows disk)
Also, that tutorial uses Windows to flash the ZipIt, could you do this flash in Linux?

My miniSD card came in the mail today (finally) and I got to hacking. I've been following the Hak5 episode video and the third link in the show notes, down to the T. I got to the part after it copied everything to the memory card and powered off. I pressed the power button to test and see if it works fine (like Darren did in the episode), the backlights flash once, and both LED's on the front power on but nothing comes up on the screen. Is my poor ZipIt dead and gone?

Used to smoke cigarettes. My cigarette of choice was Camel Lights. Loved smoking so much, but figured that it wouldn't be too productive to keep doing later in life. Now I just stick to Hookah

Well, I tried booting it on my desktop when I returned home from school, and it boots on my desktop. I was actually able to boot completely into BT4 Final (I could only boot into BT4, as it's the only item I have installed on my multipass ATM).
Cliff Notes:
Using rEFIt on my Macbook Pro, I can't boot into my multipass
Using my desktop, I can boot into my multipass

OK, I've ran into another problem. I am on my Macbook Pro now running rEFIt, and every time I try to boot my Multipass, I get the error "No bootable device detected. Press any key to continue" but when I press any key, it does nothing. Here is my menu.lst, found in the GRUB folder that was made:
timeout 10 title Back Track 4 Final root (hd0,0) configfile /bootbt4/grub/menu.lst
Am I missing anything needed to boot

Ok, thank you very much! I was under the impression that the error was something about unmounting the volume, not formatting. Thank you again!

I apologize for the double post, but I have run into another problem. Now that I've gotten PeToUSB to recognize my Sandisk Cruzer, I get an error when trying to format. The error reads "FormatEx Error[11]: An Error Occurred Formatting the Drive." I have also noticed that the drive will change format styles after this. For instance, I can format it to FAT32 through the Computer Management window, but after the error it changes formats to RAW

Holy crap, I feel like a total newb. Thanks for the help guy!

Finally decided to make a Multipass, but I've run into some problems. First off, I'm going by the show notes from episode 524 to build this, and I'm on Windows 7. I've read the guides and useful posts sticky at the top of the forum, also.
My problem is when I boot up PeToUSB, my flash drive is not recognized by the program. It boots up and says "No USB disks found!" and no matter how many times I refresh the list, nothing comes up. I've even tried a different flash drive, but even it isn't recognized. The drive that I'm trying to use is a Sandisk Cruzer 32 gig, with the U3 software removed.
Thanks in advance!

For all the people who smoke hookah, try the combination of vanilla and orange. It tastes exactly like a creamcicle, it's awesome!
