  1. I recall running into this problem once before and to solve it I placed grldr in the root of my usb drive.

I have since formatted and removed it though and it is now located at /boot/grub/grldr and I have no problem booting grub4dos now with it located there.

    Version issue possibly?

Make sure it is lower case as it is on mine just to see if that makes a difference.

Also have a look to see if there is a newer version of grub4dos available than you are using.

Good luck and let me know.

I redid it using WinGrub GUI (a program that installs Grub4dos) and it placed the grldr in the root. So far so good. When I reboot I get the following errors when trying to boot to the USB:

    Try (hd0,0): FAT32: disk error
    Error

    Any ideas?

  2. I used to work for Blizzard, and I can tell you this. No one hacked your account.

Your account was compromised by your lack of security, or you sharing your password.

How to make sure it doesn't happen again? Secure your computer properly, don't share your account details.

I disagree. My account got "hacked" once by a powerleveling company. I know this because they specifically said they never needed me to tell them my account info. I never gave them the info, and they still did the job. I got into trouble though, and also now I hardly know the character. I wouldn't recommend powerleveling.

  3. I will walk through the steps I was just going through.

    • I had my wireless router at home set to 192.168.2.1, and I was flashing the Open-Mesh router at the same time over the ethernet port on my laptop.
    • While still flashing the Open-Mesh router (which by the way listens on 192.168.0.1 while flashing :(), I changed my wireless router to 192.168.0.1 to solve some problems I had been having.
    • After some time, the flashing utility started to use a lot of my CPU, around 50%. After a bit it displayed:

"stderr:No RedBoot prompt. Exit in line 428"

and then it stopped moving forward.

    • Knowing that it wasn't moving I impulsively closed the utility, and while I did so I realized how stupid that is to do :( I now get the above error whenever I try to flash it, whether I am connected to my home wireless router or not.
Is the Open-Mesh router bricked? If so, will making a serial cable allow me to get it to a usable/ flash-able state? :/

I feel like such a fool.

  4. Ok, I've had a little time to play with the mini router from open-mesh. I've been able to verify the following:

Telnet to RedBoot is open at 192.168.0.1 port 9000 (not sure what the timeout is)

    SSH is enabled by default.

The default kernel already allows for write access to the flash chip and RedBoot configuration.

So, after a deep breath I took the plunge. I started at step 11 of the Jasager install (firmware installation).

approx 10 minutes later I had a successful OpenWRT install.

Enabled wireless and connected right in.

So basically you don't have to worry about revision number, enabling SSH, or patching the RedBoot config and default kernel.

Again, I did this on the Open-Mesh mini router model MR3201A-38NQ.

    Happy haking...!

Thanks so much for taking the time to make a post about this! I just asked about the PicoStations in another thread and this is great to see!!! You rock.

Thats good, we've now got a thread to point people at when they ask where they can get a Fon or replacement.

    Agreed!

  5. The PicoStations that I've been playing with work exactly the same as the Fon except they are open by default, no messing around having to jail break them. They also have serial connectors inside as well, same as the Fons.

Which version of PicoStation are you using? I'd like to buy the Pico5 for the extra range, but I just want to make sure I have something that works. That's more important. It has half the memory after all. :/

Also, I couldn't find a tutorial for setting this up with a PicoStation, so I wanted to know. What steps in the (wiki) tutorial for the Fon can I skip if I'm using a PicoStation? You said "...they are open by default, no messing around having to jail break them."
