I found the easiest way to learn python was to have a project to develop with it (in my case I have to create a public key cryptography library). The web is good for info, but I alos use Dive Into Python as a refrence manual.

try using new drivers or older drivers. As you suggested this sometimes happens with graphics cards when they are biting the bullet but can also happen when there is a bug in the driver. You didnt mention what OS you were using so its hard to diagnose the problem fully (it would really take a physical diagnsis) but I have noticed that windows causes alot of issues like this when a graphics driver is buggy or does not install correctly. With linux I have found that this driver issue does not happen as regularly and is more likely to be a hardware issue. I would still suggest trying other drivers first before you rule the card as dying :).

Darren was wondering about credit card numbers for spotify.
There is a german bank who will allow you to creat a virtual mastercard, that works as a debit card. Its available worldwide and should accept all credit cards from around the world (also allowing paypal). So this will give you a debit card number from germany if you think you may have issues. sorry, i was going to suggest a method for hiding the command window but after rewatching ep 09 i think it will not work.
