I'm not attempting to write something that is comparable to nmap - But rather, just a lightweight portscanner that offers very basic scanning functions.

I love Android. I still have my trusty old HTC Hero (Android 2.1 - Non-rooted). I've done a little development work with it and I have to say, it's very intuitive. I haven't done any development work with the iPhone, so I'm not in a position to make comparisons - but I truly love android and would recommend it for anyone who wants to begin mobile development.

Hi guys,
This is a paper I wrote for college last year on ARP based MITM attacks. You can find the PDF here: http://www.seanobriain.com/docs/PasstheParcel-MITMGuide.pdf
Any feedback is welcome.

Seán

Hi guys,
I've started development on a port scanner for Android. It's currently in early development stage, but works and is a useful tool to have with you on the move.
I plan on improving performance and the user-interface in future releases, but anyone who wants it can download it from here: http://www.seanobriain.com/android/Fiosru-0.5.apk
I also plan on developing a few more network tools for android, so if you think there's anything in particular that Android could do with - let me know. Would love some feedback in anycase :)
Thanks,
Seán "Coscair".

I ran a BBS with synchronet for a while on both Linux & Windows. If you are engaging in such a project, I'd highly reccomend it. It's free, and provides great functionality.
However, since the inception of modern webforums - BBS's are now just a novelty. I'm not sure what functionality you'd require that isn't already provided from the site. If you are looking for a shell, along with BBS access - I strongly advise limiting public access to just the BBS, rather than direct shell access.
Also - From a security POV, alot of the BBS software out there isn't updated often. I'd be weary about any unreported flaws laying about.

I'm a Java programmer. I'd reccommend to get a book if you aren't learning it in a classrom environment. Look for a book called "Head First Java" - It's a really great text for introducing people to the language. It will teach you the fundementals of the language. Make sure to follow all the excercises as you need to challenge yourself after you have learned a new concept, so that you know how to implement it for future use.
