[Need Beginner Advice For Starting To Script]

I have never done any sort of scripting and recently was told to learn some to further my skills.

Now of course using google has turn up a ton of what people think but nothing effective.

What I need is for people here in the forums to give is their advice on a solid language they run into allot.
