well i just got the pc about 4 months ago, been running smooth. i run adware SE and it finds stuff, but says it cant delete it. how do i back up and nuke? i have the windows XP SP2 disc in my hand

ah. i really need help. alot of help. im on windows SP2. i use this crappy protection system. its gone tits up and im getting scary pop ups and my home page on IE has been taken over. im using mozilla now and i dont know if i can save this machine. HELP!!I no hacker but i use a hardware firewall for the LAN, and a variety of software firewalls on my computers. AVG free edition for antivirus, although its picked nothing up for years. I also use virtual PC 2004 for playing with things I'm not sure about, that way if it goes tits-up I can delete it and start again.For proactive sercurity I use a few linux live CD's such as Helix, RIPlinux and back|track. And apps like wireshark, nmap, angryIP, cain&able, netstumbler, hirens boot disk, bartPE. Just the general things really.

hmm. im quite the noob when it comes to cain. but the yea. regarding the lag, i would be able to tell right away that something was up. like when im uploading a video, the connection bar would turn red almost right away. but if i get the chance, i will try it. :)
