  1. I was hopping someone could point me in the right direction of a tutorial on using Kismet with gpsd and gpsdrive in backtrack 4. I have no proplem getting Kismet up and configured but don't know where to go from there. I have googled it but the closest think I could find is a old tutorial on the first backtrack with a serial gps. I was hoping to use my Garmin Vista HCX over usb. Also I am running Backtrack 4 in vmware workstation with win7 as main OS if that makes a differance. As far as wireless card it is a 500mw alfa AWUS036H. Thanks for the help in advance.

  2. I was wondering if anyone could hepl me with a problem? I was going to start doing some wardriving to waste time my setup so far is

    1. GPS - Garman handheld etrex

    2. Laptop - dell xps 1530

    3. Wireless card - Alfa 500mw

now for the help part, I was going to use Kismet or some program along those lines but was wondering what software would combine the GPS and wireless acsess points onto a map ex. google maps or anything that would show satelite images. I did not know if this is done threw kismet or some other 3rd party software.

  3. As i was searching the forums not to many people us GPS for wardriving. I was looking at getting a GPS and was wondering for the people that have used them do you prefere a handhelp GPS or a simple usb magnetic one to stick on the roof of your vehical? any input welcome thanks.

  4. Although the device says 7.5v, the Fon+ will run off of 5v, one USB port or 4 AA batteries. This is how i do it.

Do you have any problems with multiple people connecting to Jaseger. I just remember reading that someone said that it only had enogh power for 1 or 2 people to connect, thats why I was thinking a duel USB.

  5. I did the install with the new firm ware, changed the root password, got webif up and running, installed opkg install haserl_0.9.24-1_mips.ipk

    opkg install webif_0.3-4709_mips.ipk

    opkg install webif-theme-xwrt_0.3-4709_all.ipk

and turned on wireless, using the install from this link. http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14973.

i did not do step 5 because I was not going to connect the fon directly to a router i was going to try ICS. but i was testing Jasger with another laptop but it would not connect, do I still need to install more or do I have to get ICS up before anything will even connect to the fon.

I can see OpenWrt in the network connections is this suppose to happen?

  6. 1. With the new Jaseger firmware do you still need to have the original fon firm ware to be version 0.7.1 r1 or below.

    2. If I am going to plug the fon in with the eathernet port to my laptop and not use a battery pack do I need to do ICS

    Thanks

  7. In the tutorial for setting up Internet Conection Sharing he used 2 wireless cards(two NICs: - Gigabyte GN-WS50G (“Atheros”) & Alfa AWUS036H (“Alfa”) ) So I was wondering if I needed 2 cards or could do it with 1 internal wireless card.

  8. Say I visit a place that has security enabled internet wep,wpa or whatever, and I don't have the security code to connect to the Internet. If I power up the Fon and the target enters and connects and they have the security code already saved as one of there wifi connections, would they still connect to the fon(and they just wouldn't have internet) or would it then bypass the fon and they would connect to the wifi hotspot.

*note* I know it wouldn't be much of a point if they don't connect to the internet because there would be no fun packet sniffing but I was just curious as I just ordered my fon. Thanks

  9. If I am not going to do the Intercepeter project do I need the Fon+. Also the when running Jasager do you connect to the internet with the fon or with your normal wireless card in you laptop. I want to to say the normal wireless card but just checking as I don't get great range with this internal one.

  10. So I have just started to play around whith Ferret and Hamster I got it up and running. I tested it using my Laptop running windows 7, I started Ferret and went on the net and then started hamster then opened a second firefox session and it worked I could sidejack my traffic. The Problem I am running into is when I went to test this with a differnt laptop. I started up Ferret and then started the other laptop connected to the internet and browsed around. I then started hamster and opened the hamster web gui but I can not sidejack the other laptop but I saw the IP in ferret on my laptop when laptop 2 connected to the network. I have a couple of guesses of what it could be but I am not positive.

    1. My laptop is 32bit running win 7 and the other one that I was trying to sidejack was 64bit running Vista (maybe it dosn't work with 64bit)?

    2. My internal wireless card is a Intel card not sure on the model no. (as I am at work) and I don't think it has Atheros chipset.

Anyone with some input would be most appreciated.

P.S. I just tried wireshark and in the Interfaces section it lists 2 one just says Microsoft and I think it is the wireless card but in the details part it says ethernet I think.

  11. OK so i am lost (what else is new) I have been reading on the forums on how to install and there is some posts that say the wiki is not correct anymore. I am running a Dell XPS m1530 windows 7 with a intel wirless internal card I do not have a Fon yet but will shortly and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on which way to install Jasager on it. I want to connect to the internet with the wireless card and then run the fon to intercept the traffic. I have been seeing people say the wiki runs a DHCP in windows and not the fon so it will only half work. I belive I want to run the DHCP on the fon so the testing computer will connect to the Fon. THANKS

  12. I was watching some tutorials of people using Back track to test their home network and they turn the monitoring mode on there wireless card and went on with the tutorial but I was wondering after you are done testing your network do you have to turn the monitoring mode back off or once you close Back track does it reset its self also same question with the mac address. Thanks
