  1. I don't know where I could get one within 18 hours, figure out how it works AND authorize university spending on it (bureaucracy, yay).

    Hi nullArray,

Based on the 18 hours comment you made it may be to late now but this might help for furure reference.

I was going to suggest dimdim.com, they I read the comment about the Germans wanting Skype so I did a quick search to see if they will interect in any way. It seems not, but I did find this page

    http://lanny-on-learn-tech.blogspot.com/20...pe-41-beta.html

which seems to suggest the 4.1 Beta version of Skype will allow Screen Sharing.

    Hope this helps.

  2. @3TeK, up until now I hadn't really missed extensions all that much in Chrome. Now I have three options. 1) Find a way to build a "block image" extension for Chrome. 2) Switch back to Firefox and add your avatar to ad-block-plus. 3) gouge my eyes out with a spork.

Maybe I'll just block your avatar on the router level.

PS: Great submissions guys. Keep 'em coming! Loving the creativity in hardware selection. We'll have a field day on the show with these.

Dude, just hit the escape key on your keyboard and stop him in his tracks

    ;)

  3. Do we know if all AAO come with the Atheros wifi chipset? I'm looking into getting one and don't want to buy one if it doens't come with an atheros chipset.

    Hi Chalito,

I'm pretty sure they all come with the Atheros Wifi chipset. Even the new 10 inch AOD150 and AOD250 seem to have the same chip.

We cracked open one of the new Acer REVO PC's this week and that also had exactly the same wifi card inside.

I think Acer must have bought a job lot :)

  4. Does anyone know what the battery life is like on it? Ive been thinking of getting one, but I've heard bad things about the battery life!

    Hi Binky,

New to this forum so bear with me, but regarding Battery Life I have this.

The official figures state "Up to 3 Hours" with the standard 3 cell battery and "Up to 7 hours" on the 6 cell.

I'm in the UK where I believe they are all shipped with the 3 cell and I get around 2 to 2.5 hours out of it for standard use (surfing he net etc...)

I love mine and currently have it running (thanks to some help from a good friend) OSX 10.5, Ubuntu 9.04 and Windows 7 which all run surprisingly well on it (For a little fella). The only issue I have is with the Atheros wifi card in OSX which is not supported. I did buy and install a broadcom which should work with all three OSs but found out it was faulty after installing it twice :)

Hope this helps your decision anyway.
