Hi guys I'm looking into getting a Macbook Pro not one of these new retarded no mouse button ones but the last gen ones, it will be a secondary laptop as I primarily run a windows laptop. I need something moderatley specced and a normal macbook isn't up to scratch. I was just wandering how you guys get on with yours or any of you are selling your old ones in favour of the newer models? If so get in touch!

@Moonlit I was expelled from my school. I stopped immediatley after that, but I've learned however much you warn them they still follow through with it.

Why do you need to bypass the filtering? Just wait until you get home and do any surfing you need there.
I used t go to boarding school so didn't have this option. Like people have said remoting into a home server is the best method. or set up a cgi proxy with a pass over it.

My company at the moment is supplying fully fledged workstations for some television broadcasters I'd be more than happy to donate one to HAK5

@Esqulax would be awesome if you could post the tut.
@stingwray I think I can take it out. I'm pretty sure its PCI-e but I'll have to check was just wandering if anyone had already tried

I had an idea today do you reckon I could use my asus eeepc 701 wifi card in the wind?

Build a computer, or a simple web server as people have said. Get used to a new operating system like linux which can be a bit daunting at first but it gets easier. If you are looking down the code route start with web languages IE HTML CSS and PHP. Maybe download PHPBB see if you can mod it a bit, everyone has done a bit of phpbb modding even if they do not like to admit it. Then I would move onto assembly language, python, ruby. Once you have conquered all of them try your hand at C and C++.
I went through all of these stages but found that my heart really lay with hardware so basically just go with whateve you fancy, don't do something if you are not enjoying it.

First off, Hi guys haven't been around for a while and have come back with a new screename!
So I have just bought an MSI wind, I chose it as it has the most normal keyboard and toucpad on a netbook and so far everything is very snappy. The build quality is great and is a great deal better than my 701.
I'll just outline a couple of things for you guys:
Battery: Very impressive managed to squeeze out 7 hours with underclocking but with wifi on aswell as a 3g data stick. Not so impressive with normal clock with brightness on full.
Screen and looks: the netbook itself looks amazing and has great build quality with a glossy lid and sturdy hinge, kind of opens like a macbook. The screen is a good size and is visible in all light. Also has bluetooth out of the box which I thought was a neat feature.
My only gripes with the machine is that the networking cards do not play nice with backtrack 3 does anyone know a good wifi card I could swap into this
If anyone has anymore questions about the netbook just fire away. For performance check Darren's blog post about his aspire one it has the same specs more or less bar the good networking!
