A topic for my final year?

It's my last year at university in a year. I could do with some ideas for a topic.

The best idea I have come up with so far is preventing MAC address spoofing on a centrally managed network, to which I have already come up with a solution.

Suggestions?

So we could stop to drop all those cables across the oceans and start to point laser beams from one continent to the other (unluckily the earth is round and not flat)? Or is it not for this purpose?

No basically replacing fiber with water, it would not work in the sea as you would need a stream.

I keep thinking that if I knew less about computers a final year project would be easier to decide upon.

For example, building a Linux distribution targeted towards aiding in the achievement of a particular goal. At this point, doing this is relatively trivial.

An idea that a friend of mine was going to use for a final year project was building a database of solutions to problems (as in X doesn't work but it should, try Y to fix X). When he told me this and finished he sentence I replied "Google?". Easy and pointless in every respect.

My final topic for graduation year was Wireless use in the Hospitality industry. My major was Rest. and Hospitality Mngmt, so I tried to run with somethin techy within my major.

I like the ideas so far in this thread. What is your major?

Well the Linux distribution targeted towards clustering has kind of died, I'd like to see a new upto date live disc. You can also relate it back to some kind of saving the world through making research tools and platforms more accessible, people eat that shit up.

How about a a small linux distribution on a external hard drive, and all the live distribution does is quickly make an image of the hard drive, with little to none human input (besides initially getting the computer to boot from a removable usb device). This would be good for forensic analysts, and would be a good tool for police agencies to quickly make an image of the machine, without the need to do much training to police agencies. If this is not enough, maybe make some software to then quickly analyze the image for search-able items.
