Good programs for burning/mounting iso files

I heard the newer versions have spyware on them.

This is half true. It's actually adware (but could escalate in to spyware). The deamon tools installer has the installer for the adware bundled inside it but is a separate program completely. The deamon tools installer will automatically execute the adware installer but it has a separate user agreement to which you can decline to agree to.

If you want to burn them, try http://cdburnerxp.se/

To mount them, try Daemon tools, like an older one. Google for an older mirror or check a torrent site for the older ones. Using daemon tools, you have to reboot after installing it for the virtual drive to show up, then mount any ISO file you want. If I can find it, I will post it on my site for you. I have it somewhere on cd (Older, adware free version). I currently have it installed on my laptop but I have to find the installer in my archives of discs somewhere.

Thanks, if you could find a link that could be helpful. I tried getting Daemon tools twice before but I encountered some kind of system errors. I've got a new copy of XP since then but it would still be reassuring if I got a download from someone who knows it works.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

You really don't have to do that. Have you seen the picture of my desktop? Ye, I have deamon tools 4.12.3 installed. It's not running at the time of the screen shot, but it is installed.

Really don't have to do what? Install an older version?

I was just saying that because I know there are older versions that don't try to install a toolbar, nor do they ask you to install anything other than Daemon tools itself. I see plenty of mirrors from google though, so it isn't a hard program to find many different versions of the program. I even saw one ftp site that had like 10 versions from 3.33 on up to 4.1x something or other.

Still, the one I have (somewhere) works just fine, so I have no reason to upgrade it at this point. I rarely need to use it myself anyway.

I use MagicDisc for mounting disk images, it's freeware.

DVD Decrypter is free and will rip and burn.

The project's dead now though, but the program still works great. Hint, this software also works great with DVD Shrink. http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvdshrink/

"ImgBurn carries on from where DVD Decrypter left off"... Haven't used the program myself yet.

Side note: Most Linux distributions have all this functionality out of the box.

Side note: The functionality you mention is generally provided by free tools that just happen to be included in the Linux distribution and are not part of Linux itself. Microsoft could just as easily do the same but they'd be accused of taking advantage of their monopoly position... because everyone else (that is, the everyone else who's now bundling anything and everything with their software) complained.

Side side note: Game/media producers would throw a tantrum if Microsoft included 'piracy tools' in Windows.
