moonlit
That's an old one, they featured it on Diggnation just last week. Entirely fake though, no truth in there whatsoever, just plain not happening.

I mean cmon a piece of code that alters the CPU's current and molecular structure to make it explode, and blow someones family to "smithereens". thats like wearing gloves when installing ram cuz u don't wanna get a computer virus. it just cracked me up. figured id share the laugh. Taulmarill
Old but still funny. On the other hand, with all the convenient overclocking tools there are, wouldn't it be possible to write a virus which at least damages the CPU/GPU by overclocking it as far as it gets? webjockey
Most modern CPUs and GPUs shut off before damage is done. For example if I were to overclock my Q6600 too far, then it would shut down the computer, reset the clock speed to default and restart.
