Why not to hack school networks again

Oh my god... wow... just wow... are you kidding me? Defacing a website (which you should not do) is nothing like hacking a school (which you should not do).

Let me explain a bit more in terms you might understand...

Website -

May be hosted in another Country.

Admins do not know who you are.

You have no account.

School -

They have all your personal information

You are using a account that logs all your details.

Let me explain this a bit better... lets say you think your a clever little child by using a proxy to look at your favorite social networks (I do not know what "hip" teens do so bear with me)... all the URL's you browse are stored in your account DB... everything... hopefully someone understands what I mean by this and can clear the fog. Most schools keylog everything.

If you really want to do something at least explain to them how to secure the vuln... which if you do not know how to secure a vuln which you found... usually means you did not find it or... *lets others fill in*.

Edit: oh and btw -

ok ive got a few things to say. At my school the chicks thought it was awsome when i did something to the school. Such as using the send message program built in novell. getting in the lunch accounts(Nothing there since everything was on another server somewhere else in the world), gaining access to the command prompt(Still have that program too i think) getting into the hardrive, spamming all the email accounts at oncve ( yes i know go ahead and flame me.) but the whole resone people do it is to say they did it. you see a ton of shows on tv where kids do it. Also about that halo lan party at school can you tell more about that. it sounds fun

Ugly chicks do not count.

just save firefox portable to a flash drive and preload it with a proxy then just run it at school

Is it that necessary to look at your precious social networking sites at school... is it really that difficult razor to just wait and look all you want at them at home. No offense.

Ok what about the schools that don't have individual accounts. How the hell are thy exspossed to know then. sure they can get the logs and see what everyone was doing. what you can do is get on a computer that evryone likes thous the log is bigger and it is harder to pin point who went where.

I think I pissed some people of by saying what I did. cool :)

The main thing you kids should realize is that while curiosity and a desire to learn are welcomed, attacking people for shits and giggles makes you look like a cock no matter how old you are. Hacking your school network to cause damage is just the digital equilivent of throwing a brick threw a window and thinking it makes you a bad ass mofo.

ok the thing is, i never said iwas going to do it. If i wanted to id try and setup what they have on a virtual machine and go at it. But i won't  get anywere without help. You say go search google. well whats the point if i o search google but theres nothing to be found in lamens. becuase all the forums tell people off and try to detur them from doing it.

Im not saying im going to go out and steal a car to see what happens. But it would be sweet to learn to hott wire one to say that i could. And of course it would be one of my own!

Im just trying to say can you guys please chill with all the flaming, and noob calling?

Go... to the library... grab a security book... and read. FFS hacking is not "oh hey heres how you hack this you press this magical button and your leet" you actually have to study... that means reading books... learn how to program... etc... the true world of hacking is probably a thousand times bigger than you can begin to imagine. Thats all I have to say...

Oh and follow the below link...

I had to dig way back into my PM's for this, but this is what Darren and I settled on back when this became an issue previously, its now in the mod guidelines:

How do I hack my school/office/friends?:

Unacceptable:

"Tell me how to hack my school/office!"/"Plz hack my school cuz the teacher are lame and I won't need no education"

Acceptable:

"I'm working on hacking the novel netware server on my school network, I've already enumerated the network and found that they're running verion 8.3.1. I'm wondering if anyone has some insight on that particular service, or could suggest some reading material?"

As always, discussions about legality and school exclusion policys are appropriate, but this is no reason not to offer advice & suggestions or to lock a thread. It is up to them to consider the implications of there actions. If you lock something of this nature, explain why.

Thank you my friend... hopefully that sets some people straight!

  • 1 month later...

hacking my school network :

started a while back... at school, our school runs windows xp pro machines, normal setup, net support ie website blocker and some governement inernet proxy...

so me and a mate went on IE, and downloaded opera, (suprise it was unblocked).. cos u cant install to the C: drive, we installed it to our personal user documents (located on the server). we then went on a techers computer while they left their desk, and noticed the techers proxy for the internet was different to the students (students port 8082, where as teachers port 8084), so we simply changed it in opera (because settings is blocked in IE). there u go - internet unblocked...

then we hit another wall, the computers explorer was locked to the max, so using opera we downloaded a explorer alternative called Servant Salamander, using this trial we could acsess everything on the network and the c: drives - even the registry. i then noticed that some how i'd unblocked the right click on the desktop, so i made a shortcut, and realised it came up on all the screens in the room, so i spammed the desktop for a while (fun), and then decided to download VLC and run HAK5 Season 3 ep 2 as desktop background = HAK5 on every computer screen in the school:P

we then torrented (uTorrent) a copy of Age Of Empires 2, and had a little AOE2 tourney during lessons.

we did this by hiding the aoe files (cracked) inside the servers backup file, and then making a desktop shortcut to the start menu....

happy days...

we wanted more... we wanted steam:P CS 1.6 baby, but we realised the server firewall blocked the steam connection, so refrencing back to an early hak5 episode, (season 1 i think) Darren told us how to turn the firewall off using command prompt, so i used that and bingo, CS1.6 server running on the school server, everyone playing:P:P

one more thing... the school has employed a new peice of software that monitors the pc and records what u do (the admins suspect me for everything these days), so to stop this, i make a new notepad document, run the task kill command (for noobs - taskkill /im xxxx.exe) and i jus simply ended the programs process

ill tell u about more when we come up with it xD

Welcome to the "You're || close to a ban" club.

Edit: Just because I'm not very good at being an asshole, I'll explain:

This isn't the kind of attitude we encourage here. School isn't there to provide you with free fuckabout computers or a neat torrent connection, it's there for you to go to lessons and socialise.

We will never encourage "hacking" school computers, and you'll have noticed this if you've read any of the posts in which people are discussing the matter. If you like to screw with computers that's great, more power to you, but don't do it on other peoples' computers, especially if they're used in a place where many people have to use them. It's a pain in the ass for the IT staff when they have to undo what you've done, it's a pain in the ass for you when you get suspended, expelled, banned from the computers or at the very least the computer isn't there any more because the IT staff had to take it away and fix it.

Don't be a dumbass. If you've got any brains you'll read what we've said all over this forum so many times before and take note of it. Just FYI, I'm not threatening you, I'm warning you.

Now, I don't mind if you stay here but we want to see less of this "omfg im a 5up3rh4xx0r!!!" and more productive stuff. You posted elsewhere to say you have a machine of your own... why not grab a couple of old boxes and make your own network to learn on (/screw with), or rig up a few virtual machines on your main box? It can be cheap (or free), fun, as easy or as hard as you make it and you'll damn sure learn more.

There's only so much I can say and only so many times I can say it, don't make me start banning people just because they come across as stupid.

You might be the smartest guy in the world (or you might think you are, or convince others you are) but you sure don't look like it here so far.
