XP backup using linux tools

I have recently reinstalled XP and Ubuntu on my laptop and what I would like to do is backup my  XP partition to DVD, ideally using free linux apps.

I have a 15GB NTFS partition of which 4GB is being used and would like to backup this up to a DVD  so that if needs be I could put this back on the hard drive without wasting the hours which it takes to install and update windows.  I know you can do this using Norton ghost but I am hoping there is something in the FOSS world which would do the same thing.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance

I personally wouldn't use Ubuntu as the primary workstation to back up a whole partition. I would probably go with a bootable Distro that specializes in data/partition backup.

Possibly giving a name/link to this "bootable Distro that specializes in data/partition backup" you speak of might help him instead of him hearing your opinion which gives no insight into what he needs help with.
