G-Stress
@ Sparda, Thanks for the link, this does look like a nice distro, even prompted with the option to use supported browsers in my windows environment, but it won't boot off liveCD, after the preliminary key map part it gets down to starting display manager and then the screen goes black and that's it. Under Start or install and the gui options. Kinda disappointing :( I was looking forward to checking this distro out it looks nice. Any other recommendations on how I might avoid re-install? Other distro's? It seems as if my lappy doesn't like any xx-untu distro's at all.
moonlit
Sounds like a graphics card/driver/xorg conflict. What's your graphics card?
Sparda
Try selecting safe graphics mode from the options menu that appears.

My card is a nvidia GeForce Go 6150.
Sparda
When the options appear off the disk press F6 and delete the "quiet" and "splash" options.
