Edward Taylor Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Hi all, I am a student currently learning cyber security and networking on a Higher National Certificate course, and I was wondering if Ducky Script is open source. I saw a project on YouTube that transformed a Raspberry Pi Pico into a Bad USB through Python, emulating ducky script. (I do not know if it is "emulated" as I am not a coder, see link below for github page. From what I can tell it appears to just be translating python into rubber ducky inputs, again I am not wholly sure.) I cannot find information on the Hak5 website concerning this matter. I was wondering if there are any copyright or licence issues around the use of this 'emulated' ducky script. I was hoping to explore the Raspberry Pi Pico as a Bad USB for a project on my HNC course, and as such want to use ducky script on a raspberry pi pico I own to experiment different types of attacks. Here is a link to the GitHub page for the code that I am talking about: GitHub - dbisu/pico-ducky: Create a USB Rubber Ducky like device using a Raspberry PI Pico. Ultimately, I would like to use this code for my project to make my own Bad USB (and for personal exploration, for use on an old laptop I own,) but I would like to know if this is allowed? As I say I have not yet done this project yet, but would like information on if I am allowed to. Thanks, Edward Quote
dark_pyrro Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Ducky Script is licensed and the only devices, apart from the Hak5 devices, that use truly licensed Ducky Script are O.MG devices. All other implementations are unlicensed knock-offs. Moreover, the only device to this date that fully supports Ducky Script 3.0 is the gen2 Hak5 USB Rubber Ducky. Will you be placed behind bars for building a knock-off variant? My guess is; no. Don't come here for help or troubleshooting though. Keep that elsewhere. Quote
DramaKing Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The Pico badusb project isn't even emulated. It uses HIDscript like Arduinos. It's a totally different thing. I know some things, but HIDscript is totally off-topic. Quote
Edward Taylor Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 Thank you for the feedback! I didn't want to do anything that was wrong. I'm glad I didn't start that project. Quote
