911alertme Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Would there be any way to take all of the computers on my network and make the CPU's work together? I want to increase the speed of my video conversions. Would you need a specific converter? Would you have to write a program from the bottom up? My converter of choice would be SUPER. Basically what I'm asking is can I use the processors of the other computers on my network to increase video converting speed (or anything else that requires your processor). Quote
KoR_Wraith Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Do you mean like you have 2 (or more) computers on your home LAN, and want them to work together to convert a video? Quote
911alertme Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 Correct. Or just work together to create a super CPU. Quote
deleted Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 dont bother googleing it because i tryed to do something like this a while ago and i found nothing of use. Quote
metatron Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Sounds like you could do with a cluster, as for a video converter well I know there are a few converters similar to ffmpeg which work quite well on a cluster, but their names currently escapes me as I don’t have much call for them. Google it. Quote
