Installing OS X on a PowerMac G4 without the DVD

dead goon

Recommended Posts

I'm in a little bit of a quandry here. I have an old PMac G4 that originally came with OS9, and is currently running Linux. I want to install OS X Tiger on it, but the DVD-ROM drive is very old and finicky, and refuses to boot burned DVD discs. Yes, I don't have the original Tiger disc, it's a burned image. So, my question is, is there a way to get Tiger installed on there without installing from a DVD? I am aware of the FireWire drive method, but I'm pretty sure that requires another box running OS X, and I only have Linux running on my other computers. Any ideas?
