My question is, I have a old ACER TravelMate 630 and the battery does not work (probably because it was left on its side for a year). I want to know if there is a way to recondidtion the battery back to working order. I have done this alot for rc car batteries but I can't seem to do it on this one :?:

The battery is probbaly just too old try draining the battery then full changing it then re draining it the charging a few more times if it still dosen't work then it's done for

It's possible that the battery has a memory now. Best bet is to try fully draining the battery, recharging, draining, etc. If you charge devices before they run out, then they tend to get a shorter battery life as they don't use it.

If not, the battery is probably dead O_o

well if I have the battery in the laptop and the ac plugged in and I pull the plug it dies

check the contacts on the laptop and the battery seems like it is not getting the chance to charge.

the battery is fully connected.

Also I run Ubuntu and on the menu bar at the top it always says "Running on AC, Battery 100% discharging" but still when I unplug it, it dies.

no, lithom, is a lot harder to get a memory than Ni, but it is still possible, also laptop battries (specialy from Acer, BenQ [acer again], Dell, and IBM'ish) are known for going out in about 3-4 yrs. It could just be that your battery has given up on u.

My dell is about 2 years old and I noticed its onlly good for about 1.5 to 2 hours or so when I got it (new) it was good for about 3.5+ what can I do to reverse this or slow it down?

Ok i know my battery's li ion batteries go dead after about three years whether you use it drain it all the way or not they have no memory. They are just constantly dying so don't go and buy a new battery for you laptop that has been sitting on a shelf for two years.
