subterra
could someone give me an example of how to open a zip file using 7zip. Their man page doesn't really make sense to me? I just simply want to open it. Thanks
dark_pyrro
Command line? Define "open". Do you want to show the contents in a zip file on the command line/terminal or open it in 7z GUI?
subterra
7z Gui would be nice.
dark_pyrro
ok... why do you specifically want 7-Zip? Since you're just trying to open a zip file.
subterra
I have always preferred 7zip. Besides it is a 7zip archive and I know any zip program will open it but I have always preferred 7zip.
dark_pyrro
That was one of the reasons I asked for more info since "zip" necessarily isn't equal to 7-Zip, "7z" though would more likely hint that 7-Zip might be used. Anyway, why not use Engrampa that is the "native" archive manager in Kali? It handles 7z files.
subterra
OK, I don't care what opens it. Engrampa then. Here is the deal. I have a file, call it "myfile.zip" and when I open and extract it all of the files that are inside are zipped also. Do I have to unzip each one or is there a way to unzip the main file as well as all of the ones inside in one swoop?
dark_pyrro
You could use unzip and create a bash script that takes care of the job
