LED does not work on brand new Mark VII

Aloha.  I ordered a wifi pineapple mark VII recently, and am just trying to set it up now.  The LED never turns on, ever.   Connected to an Arch Linux system, the DHCP doesn't work, assigning it a static IP and then nmapping it only shows port 22 open.   I think I was sent a dud.   Any ideas?

Have you tried a USB Power adapter or Battery? If not then open a ticket. https://docs.hak5.org/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360002202054

unfortunately i don't know if they're are reading tickets during the holiday break.

I have tried both USB battery and power source, as well as USB C to a System76 Oryx Pro running Arch, and an Asus g14 Zephyrus running Windows 11.   The LED never comes on.  lsusb shows it connected to the Oryx Pro as Bus 001 Device 009: ID 0b95:772b ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88772B.  nmtui shows it as Wired Connection 3, but it won't activate as automatic, so assigning it manual 172.16.42.1 allows connecting to it, but running nmap -sT -p- --min-rate=5000 172.16.42.1 -oN markvii shows only port 22 open.   The webserver is not functional.

I used the link you kindly provided and have opened a ticket.  Thank you, very much, Jtyle6

It's not all dead then, but for sure not working as it should (as it seems). I would probably try a firmware recovery and see if it helps, but you might want to wait for the reply for that ticket you opened. You could at least try and see if it is able to enter staging mode for the firmware recovery, just to make sure it responds in any way at all.

Hi dark_pyrro,

As the LED doesn't function do you know how long it takes in general for the LED to normally reach the "flashing red" state?   This way I could simply try timing how long I hold the button down.

Mahalo!

Then open a ticket on the Hak5 web site (if it was where you bought it).

Indeed.  I bought directly from Hak5.  I opened a ticket over the weekend, just waiting on response to it now.

Thank you.
