Having Trouble Capturing Handshakes - Please Help

Good evening all,

I have had my Mark VII for a few days and haven't been able to capture a handshake, can't diagnose the problem, I also noticed that there seems to be an issue with filtering that may or may not be related.

For starters, I'm on a Macbook pro (I know, I know, I'm very new to this and trying to learn before buying another machine), running big sur version 11.4, using Chrome Version 96.0.4664.55 (Official Build) (x86_64)

My pineapple is running version 1.1.1, it's in wireless mode connected to my local 2.5G network from my home router.

My goal is to capture the handshake from the 5g network from the same router (for legal and ethical reasons).

I can locate both networks on recon, initiate the capture via the menu on the left, I get the red box that says "stop handshake capture", but at no point do I ever end up with handshakes in the handshakes tab. I have tried deauthing all clients, or clients one by one, didn't change anything, I have tried doing this from incognito mode, didn't make a difference either.

When I was trying to create these screenshots I was playing with the censor mode, and I noticed that I couldn't get my networds into the filtering mode, I got the "invalid MAC address" response despite those addresses being copied out directly by the software. Not sure if this issue is related to the handshake one but thought I would mention it.

Sorry in advance for being a noob, I fully recognize this is probably some kind of problem on my end, but I have looked at all the documents and videos I can find and haven't found any clues on how to fix this. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

The Mk VII doesn't have 5GHz capability out of the box. You will need to plug in your own 5GHz adapter or wait for the AC module to come back in stock.
