Kateweb
I hate my schools wifi at least at the campus I am on , I can't get on in any of the lounges and now I discover thay block youtube. I can understand site like youtube being blocked in the lab because those computers are for actual class work but the wifi is for students with laptops to get on the net, and laptops are not just for class work. killzone
Heres something that worked for me when I attended college, though may not be feasible depending on your colleges configuration. 1. Find a computer on campus that doesn't have the same constraints placed on it by the schools firewall or ect. --Look in the compsci labs, helpdesk, offices ect. --> any computer that is going to have a general logon for almost all users is best. 2. Set up a proxy (i used ccproxy) on that computer (may have to be clever and get admin privileges for this). --configure it to boot hidden. 2.5 Enable remote connections to that computer, more likely then not you will be able to do this or it is set already. --DOnt forget the name of the computer or IP 3. Leave computer on or connect via a remote connection and start and/or connect to proxy. BAM! unfiltered internet. ***This worked form me and a few buddies for about 200 days, we Didn't use it for torrenting or ect. as to not draw attention to the proxy by the network admin or IT staff. We got caught during a remote session while a tech happened to be updating the software*** --Consequences can be steep for this (FYI), know your colleges policy. Garda
it's probably just because it eats alot of bandwidth that's what i think they're going to do where i go to uni all forms of IM and email, except from the uni's service, are blocked already anyway. As well as anything other than port 80 and
