Hacking Root User's Password

I was wondering if anyone in this community was in to hacking into an Android/Linux system in order to find the password for the root user?

Or would anyone at least be aware of the challenges of doing this?  Where would you start?  A brute force approach?

I'm really not into doing anything nefarious, I really just want to unlock the bootloader of my Samsung Tab E from AT&T.
