Need a new rig

Hi, first time post, please go easy...

 

I stepped out of cybersecurity in 2015 to raise my kids. They both go into high school this year... Whatever that means...and now that I don't have to drive them to and from school everyday make lunch breakfast etc, I'm transitioning from full-time dad to remote worker.

 

I'd like to get back into pen testing Wi-Fi testing, etc, and started putting together some tool kits from the hack 5 website.

 

While that stuff is on its way I was curious what people suggest regarding a main workstation.

 

I would like to be able to run Windows, run Linux, have local virtualization and a decent amount of storage.

 

Also what's in demand in the San Francisco Bay area?

What courses are certifications would help me get restarted?
