Decoding NXDN 15-bit Scrambler with Known Key

Recommended Posts

Is anyone aware of software that, given a known key, can decode the 15-bit scrambler in the NXDN protocol used by Kenwood and Icom land-mobile radios?

There used to be a scanner, the AOR AR-DV1, that would not only decode the audio with a known key, but could recover the key from just the received transmission.  I'm just looking for a receive-only solution without having to buy a transceiver for several hundred dollars.

If you're freaked out because it's a PDF, just Google something like "AOR DV-1 NXDN scrambler" and I'm sure you can find the same info about a hardware solution.

I was just looking for a software solution without having to implement all of NXDN in GNU radio or something.
