WP6 issues with Kali and Tetra

I hope this is a simple and stupid fix. I've searched the forums here and haven't found anything helpful.

I've connected my Tetra using the Y cable, which is mapping to eth1 in Kali. I've set the IP for  eth1 to 172.16.42.2/24. I can connect to the Tetra settings page in my browser with no problems.

When I use wp6.sh and use the guided setup, everything seems to be fine and it says it saves the config. When I try to connect using the settings I saved, I get this:

Detecting WiFi Pineapple.............................................................................................

I've let it sit for 10 minutes, and all it does is add more periods.

I tried to set it manually several times, and here is what I see every time:

I've reset the Tetra, I've recreated the connection in Kali twice, and I've rebooted both devices several times. What could be going wrong?

One thing I looked at is the routing table on the Tetra.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
default 172.16.42.42 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 br-lan
172.16.42.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 br-lan

I'm not sure that's right.

Also of note - if I set the eth1 to get an IP assigned automatically, the pineapple assigns it an address in the 172.16.42.0/24 network, and only connections to the pineapple can be had. If I set the interface settings manually, I must select "use only for resources on this connection" in the route section of the interface settings or my system can't see the internet anymore.

It's just odd... I can ping the Tetra from the same command line I'm running wp6 from with no issues, but the script can't detect the Tetra on the same IP? It's not writing anything to the Tetra's route table, that's for sure.
