internet reverse shell?

Hi

Is it possible to make a reverse shell even if you are not in the same wlan as your victim?

i guess so long the victim machine has a route to a public routable IP, it will work.. even if the victim and attacker is not in the same local network, there must be a bridge between the 2 network, with the last option being the internet.
