As always, learning to find information, using google or search functions is a good place.

There's an entire topic on it: https://forums.hak5.org/topic/913-hacking-where-to-begin/

Cyber security is very  vague(in my opinion, note my opinion.) it depends on where you want to start.  Then also you need to account for your budget.  while you can learn a lot for free, you can also learn a lot for free.  There are plenty of sources listed in the topic     one straight forward course via udemy is https://www.udemy.com/share/102pDwBUodc11SRnQ=/ (not my course but I have viewed most of the vids)

There are also plenty of VIds on HAK5 and other channels

Indeed. You can compare it to the game industry. "I want a carrer in the gaming industry" Is very vague. You need to know what you want do do. Gaphic design? Game design? Probrammer?
Even those braches have branches..level design, 3d modeling, textures..blah blah. You can start with unity and lookup free tutorials, decide what you want to do..then go for it.

In cyber its the same..do you want to administrate networks, do you want to go pentesting..wich type of pentesting? Wifi..bluetooth..serverstructures, web interfaces..ble bla blubb.
First look around and find what carrer fits you best..then go ahead from there.
In case of school..go ahead and do basic computer science..learn how the machines work from inside, learn all about common network protocolls. If you are in school anyways..take every computer class you can.

And in the internet ages..knowlege is free..just have a spoon of google each day..but a school diploma on paper opens you more doors then just selftrained knowledge..since your future employer trust a paper more then "I learn that on google" Better be on the save side in case of a real job and get something on paper.

(or spoof your papers if youre good/lucky and go "catch me if you can")
