As @WPA2 said just take a look around Youtube.  There are a lot of videos showing its abilities.

Some notable searches:

  • Car Key fobs
  • OpenBTS
  • IoT scanning
  • etc, etc, etc....

The list goes on for days.

Have you got one, or are you considering getting one?

@INFOTRACE I have had one before.  Plan to get another soon.  Really enjoyed it but got rid of it when switched to a USRP B200 for a while.

If you are wanting to get into SDR the hackRF is awesome.

HI Buddy,

Why did you switch back to the  USRP B200?

Main reason was for OpenBTS.  Needed full duplex and it has some additional nice features for OpenBTS use as well.

I plan to get a hackRF again soon.  It is a great SDR for the price with awesome features.  Its only shortfall is no full duplex, but this isn't a big deal unless that is your sole need of the SDR.

Thank you for clarifying......I can now see why you changed.......

Have seen setups using two hackRF to work with OpenBTS but the cost for two is near the same as a USRP B200. And some additional software setup.

I will do a little looking and see if I can find it.  Another popular choice is the bladeRF.
