With Powershell (run as administrator) you can add a exclusion like this: Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath "C:\" This will add the whole C-drive as a exclusion. Disabling Windows Defender will give you a notification in the notification area (yellow exclamation tray icon). While a exclusion will not.
