manuel Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 This reminds me again... Darren, When exactly were we supposed to move to another server? I don't know about you but Im kinda tired of vertex hosting and their botnet network that they apparently host. -Manuel Quote

Darren Kitchen Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 We found a new host. only problem is we need an IRC admin with experience. I'm not talking about ops, I'm talking about actual ircd administration. Thankfully it's one of those things that usually just works once it's up and running. And we've been lucky to have Owine running the network but he's very busy these days and I don't know of anyone else capable of setting it up. Anyway the good news is we found two hosts that'll offer redundancy to the network. Just need someone thats good with ircd's to set it up. Quote
nickisgod1 Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 yup im timing out right now. P.S. an irc service doesnt require that much maintenance shouldnt be that hard to find someone to maintain it Quote
Deveant Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 hmm what is required to run it? ive got a Dedicated server doing not much atm, if its not hard to set up (or some one is willing to set it up) im happy to host it, or untill u can find an alternative. Quote

And thanks Darren for answering our question... oh and btw: [23:54] * Brainkill changes topic to '<Brainkill> IRC server is going to be worked on anywhere within 24 hours from NOW by NOC technicians. They will be swapping out the old system for a new system. Downtime will be minimal, we hope. Server will be rebooted and IRC server will be rebooted aftewards.' [01:59] * OTG-Brainkill changes topic to 'Server was down this morning till 4 AM EST. Thanks for your cooperation' Quote
moonlit Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Great new, hope we can get someone in to do the job... someone around here's gotta have experience... Quote
gameman733 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I've setup an IRCD before just for expirementing. After getting it and services going, I'm not sure how much more work it would require. (using hybrid on debian) Quote
VaKo Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Do you already know which ircd you want to run? Quote
