Hi

I have purchased the Lan turtle recently , I plugged the lan turtle to my laptop running ubuntu 18.10 and nothing happened at all , I ran lsusb and ifconfig the Lan turtle is not showing anywhere however the lights on the turtle is working and seems like it was booting the way it should , Not sure what to do here to get the turtle to work so I could ssh into it , also I have tried plugging the device on window 7 pro , win 10 and no luck still i am starting to think that there is something wrong with the device itself.

Did you get any output from dmesg when you plugged it in?

It may be worth trying a Factory reset https://docs.hak5.org/hc/en-us/articles/360010471134-Factory-Reset

I have tried to reset per instructions above still no show anywhere

I just did a few searches based on the contents of your dmesg output, it would seem that it could well be something ubuntu related - possibly a USB 3 hub issue?  I don't think this is a LAN turtle thing, or at least it doesn't seem that way. I'm also using Ubuntu 18 and have no issues.

Strange it also didn't work on windows though. Nothing showing up in device manager at all? Even unidentified?

on windows 10 only it shows as a faulty device, it says usb device is not recognized, " unkown USB Device (device descriptor request failed) , I have tried plugging the lan turtle on the following systems

windows 7 pro , usb device is not recognized error in the device manager

windows 10 ent , usb device is not recognized error in the device manager

Mac OS , Mohave device not showing at all

ubuntu 18.10 device not showing at all

I have tried as well to factory reset the device on all systems no luck

lan turtle shows boot lights everytime it's plugged .

when i plug the lan turtle to the network it takes an ip how ever i can't ssh to it

I am really starting to feel that something is horribly bad with this device really

what drivers should I use for the windows system do you have a link to download the drive

Meh, im kinda guessing - The LAN Turtle itself shouldn't need drivers, but if your hardware uses an internal USB3 hub that does need drivers then what ever you plug into that won’t work until those drivers are installed and working. There is a slim chance that's what's up.

Has it ever worked? Maybe you also have a USB2 port on the same machine? or another PC/laptop with different hardware? Do other devices work on those USB ports? At least to try to rule it out.

If I had the same issue on different hardware as well as OS then I would be more convinced it was a LANTurtle issue, especially after a factory reset. Then I would contact Hak5 support https://docs.hak5.org/hc/en-us/requests/new
