Foxtrot
17 hours ago, Jack Van Deusen said: I bought the WiFi pineapple nano tactical, and the book. I read the book and watched dozens of videos on how to configure and operate my device, all to no avail. There were so many things that didn't work as you said it would. You left out so many details when writing the book, I still can't do anything with my Nano. I feel like I wasted $150 and countless hours of my time for absolutely nothing. Reading your forums and blogs confirm this, so many of your customers have asked you so many times to explain how to properly configure and operate the device but you don't respond, or when you do you don't answer their questions in detail. Many people out there are stuck with Nano's that are totally useless. I live in San Francisco and I would like to come to your office and collaborate with you in person so we can finally configure my Nano, and get it up an running properly once and for all.. Hi, This isn't really the topic for this, but nonetheless, I apologise if you're not happy with your device. The book covers the fundamentals of operating the WiFi Pineapple and explains the attacks used as a Rogue AP. You can also find detailed help on each aspect of the Pineapple (read: the modules) via the Help module in the Web UI. If you have more questions that the help text doesn't answer, please feel free to make a new topic on the forums as this one is solely for new firmware releases. tommyq
I've just updated to the latest firmware from the website today. I can connect to the spoofed wifi as seen in the dashboard and kick back off etc. I have the PineAP running and the Evil Portal running. I dont get trapped into a portal and on the very rare occasion I do, I get a not authorized message after giving some credentials to the login page. It seems there is a great great deal of weirdness going on. I also followed the Windows 10 ICS video and have conformed that my ICS is correct. I've tried also, to tether my laptop to my android phone and then to get a tablet to connect to the 'Starbucks free Wifi' Any help appreciated. It seems like many people are suffering variations on a this theme. I also suspect a bug in the formware in that sometimes I can not stop the portal? I can stop PineAP? tommyq
While looking at this, I saw on GitHub others who were seeing not authorised errors. However, my system seemed to have EvilPortal 3.1. I noticed there was a get from pineapple.com a version 3.2, So I went for this but noticed the info in the portal showed 3.1 still!! Manage modules showing 3.1 but info for the modiule showing 3.1. I removed and installed. Same. So, what is the difference if any between v3.1 from github and 3.2 from pineapple.com and does either fix the now authorized error? Thanks in anticipation. I've tried this with and without the dns set to 127.0.0.1 for the various portal checks like clients3... etc.

It needs to be change in your portal to redirect to a website

It's best to not run the nano without an SD setup as swap and formatted correctly. You can use the web UI to do that for you.

I’ve noticed over the years that dropping the cache pages before & after an SD card format, as well as before & after the factory reset has helped me avoid quirky bugs. Does the device show up as USB Ethernet device? yes it does show and connect, but it will last like 30 second and the network change between eth0 and wifi on and off non stop.. Other then that on the laptop it work just find ,not a problem there. But since it took the update,it will not function correctly on the pi3 i have anymore, was perfect prior that. That is why i tested with different ios ,but still same. Will have to test with a different board i guess, will let you know
Foxtrot
It sounds like the issue you're experiencing is related to your OS's network manager, which can cause this issue (it's something that trips me up from time to time myself). Either set an interface priority in your network manager, or disable the network manager and configure the interface directly using ip or ifconfig to see if the issue disappears. tommyq
If I'm understanding (quite possibly not) and with it being a cyclic thing, it sounds like the sort of thing you get with an IP conflict, where the interface bounces. If not related to this specific issue, may help somebody else coming down this route looking for solutions.
jess4140
Well i am back to tell you what really happen and why it act the way it did.. It is always human factor,i never realized then i have a different power source on the PI3. (NOT ENOUGH POWER) I am still having problem with the wp6.sh to make the connection and be on the net when you are on dashboard to see bulletin. But it fix it self when you go on page network on the gui to connect at wlan0 🙂
tommyq
Ha. Many thanks. I've had problems with PIs and PSUs - even the official ones. I think I've had some problems with power and the nano too. Good luck!
