Anyway... so you know I don't drink, neither play Video Games and dislike porn; and yes I like women. So what's wrong with me? or what's wrong with you guys?! just to "demythologize" the whole understanding or the sick logic that follows the world of geeks and computers. It's not always about games, neither beer, nor porn. Instead of gaming, go for a bike ride Instead of drinking beer, try some water, it's good for you Instead of watching porn, get a girlfriend and enjoy a relationship Having issues with yourself is one thing, excusing it just for the sake of being cool and be in the computer business, is even worse. I drink socialy, one or twice every two weeks with friends, and still its not beer, (more a whisky kinda guy). I dont play games as in the such of Online, i may play Bubble Trouble or Dice Wars every now and then, but i wouldnt call my self a serios game. As for porn... umm... cant say that ove never seen it... but still... im at my computer for about 3h's a day, more if im working (legit work). does this mean im not a geek? Not drinking is ok, you may have your own reasons for that. And... I would guess that most.. well alot of people in this forum probably have girls. I have my own, for about 3 years now. Along with sparta, I think you should watch purepwnage, and try some video games... give it a try. you'll probably like it. :D p.s- Im also sure that alot of people in this forum do a good bit of excersise stuff. moonlit Posted January 3, 2007 Share Posted January 3, 2007 I wouldn't call myself a gamer at all, I drink socially and that's not very often and I don't download porn... ...I do however spend all of my waking hours (that is besides doing things the body does every now and again) in front of a keyboard, I code and I enjoy reading, writing, solving problems and hacking. I think I count as a geek regardless of my lack of stereotypical 'qualifications' to be a geek. ;) Oh, and slightly off topic but as a side note... I mentioned things the body does every now and again... If a person defines them self with a label it because they are probably not comfortable with who they are. I'm a Joe, because thats who I am. As far as the drinking and gaming. I don't drink because I have a drinking problem, and I play games a little bit, but would play more if I had more time. I do watch a lot of anime, because I have it setup so that I can watch it during my down time at my full time job. I like women, I just broke up with my girlfriend of almost 4 years. I've slept with about 60 different women. I watch a little porn when my balls are so full that I can't stand it. I just get that feeling from your need to justify who you are and your not so subtle way of saying that your choices are right and others are wrong. In general geeks are a bit shy, alcohol in proper amounts reduces shyness which leads to talking to women. Without the artificial braveness and the social interaction you can get from it porn easily becomes a substitute. Don't really see porn and a proper relationship being mutually exclusive either, though I guess that's up to what kind person you and your partner is. Nowadays I'm too busy with other stuff to be willing to spend time on that. I do occasionally meet up with old school buddies for a little LAN party. We play 24 hour straight, at the end of which I don't want to see another game for at least the rest of the month. I don't mind drinking, but I only rarely do so. I'm vehemently opposed to drinking and driving, and from my group of friends I'm the one who cares the least about not being able to drink booze when we go out. When I'm home I like to drink a single, good quality beer, and I appreciate it to the fullest (as opposed to downing it and immediately grabbing the next one, anxiously waiting for that alcohol buzz). All this has some benefits, though. For starters, it's really cheap. Give me 6 beers and I'm crawling home. I enjoy watching porn, but prefer healthy relationships. I guess one settles for what's available. On the other hand, I do spend most of my waking hours behind a computer screen. J@ng0F3tt Posted January 5, 2007 Share Posted January 5, 2007 I was an avid drinker in High School and College, but found it very easy to quit....got a HUGE wake-up call after a near death exp with alcohol poisoning. These days my fix is Jolt, Red Bull, Bawls (Thanks to a fellow Cornell Grad) and AMP. Although, I do every once in a while go to my friends bar (Ahhh yes, good to have a friend with a bar) and go have a few pints of Guinness get a good buzz and then drink some coffee. I do have vices being that I'm a gamer at heart; playing WOW, Gears of War and whatever else places me in a surreal environment...anything to break me away from the reality of being in the Army and deploying overseas.
