hsncorrosion
I found a video http://youtube.com/watch?v=7EECLa2DDso that show by typing in a certin code or by opening a batch file containing this code it could be used as an undetectable virus! Is this possible?
SomeoneE1se
Yes is works the same way as right mouse clicking something and hitting delete. Only I'm guessing that he deleted everything with a wildcard (*) so... ya it can be done.
Deveant
seems plasable, ive seen a few that utalise changing from Fat32 to NTFS, then but cutting out the proccess b4 its finshed it corrupts the HDD, though by the looks of that, it seems either an Unistall XP command sorta thing or a as memntion delete all using the wild card was used then a paramater to ingore on fail. jool
So 'del' is a virus now? 'del /F /S /Q c:*' is just the windows equivalent of 'rm -rf /' and is nothing special, it's just an effective demonstration of why you shouldn't be running as administrator. remkow
That doesn't mean it's impossible, even though it's not a real virus or anything
jool
Of course it is possible to delete all the files from a system in a variety of ways, the only common factor is how big of an asshole the one that does it is.
moonlit
Uh... it's simple command line usage, it's really not hard...
nickisgod1
i didnt look but it doesnt sound like a virus. I mean it seems like your just deleting files. Does the code reproduce itself at all?
remkow
even though it's not a real virus or anything yea, that's what I said.. It just deletes some files
Reflux
I wish viruses were that simple then I wouldnt have to spend all that money on antivirus programs. Ha but then all these computer security guys would be out of work. But sadly thats my fantasy world real computer viruses have to be able to be self executing and reproduce.
