Sparda Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 So what if some one asks "H0w |)o 1 |-|4x m7 2(h00l n3tw0rk?", are we allowed to flame then or just "vote lock"? :P Quote
VaKo Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Be helpful, ie explain why its a bad idea, or why they shouldn't do it, or tell them what to research. If you think its a lame question, ignore it. We'll delete any flames here. However, if they turn up anywhere else, go for it. It will just be locked with a message to look in here. Quote

Famicoman Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I think that a topic to hold links and details in the first post for community projects might be in order. So the new users can see what is available to be active in the community without looking through burried topics. Quote
moonlit Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I think a few stickies answering the most common request is a good idea. The basic thing though is that if you're easily annoyed by people who tend to ask questions that get asked a lot or questions that may be related to things you don't find appropriate (school hacking, pranks, skiddie blackhats, etc) then don't come here. This is the place where beginners or newbies should be able to ask things and not get flamed like a hamburger on a bbq. If you wish to participate in this area then please do not get on people's backs, this is supposed to be the safe area. If there's an inappropriate thread it should be replied to fairly swiftly with an explanation of why the thing they asked is bad or perhaps how the way they asked it is bad and quietly locked. If flame posts are found, at least by myself (and likely other mods), they will be removed. Quote

cooper Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 The point is that when a noob asks a not-so-good question, people here will still respond to it in a decent manner. So when someone asks how to hack their school, don't bring out the marshmellows. Just say "This is not that type of board", possibly linking to the sticky, and leave it at that. Quote
Darren Kitchen Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 wouldnt it be better to just encourage some decency towards newbies across all forums. The safe haven is a nice idea but doesnt it just say that anything outside these walls are safe for flamage? Quote
VaKo Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 Tried that, massive problems integrating it with the forum population. Yeah, we should stop yelling n00b, flaming and accusing people of illegal activity's on the most spurious of information. Its not some thing we can police though, we crack down on that to much and the ego's leave. Quote
