stu_Mc
I've just acquired an old super thin laptop, P3 500 128RAM which will be cool for a 'toilet surfer' running linux (just like origami is designed for!). Problem is this old machine does not have a CDROM or floppy and the damn cable a proprietary from Dell. I need to install linux on there some how and the only way I can see is using PXE boot but unsure of how to do it. I got a real basic network setup with just 2 machines. My modem/router is my dhcp so this laptop will acquire an address no probs. Does anyone know how to get PXE running on this old laptop to talk to my XP machine and say, get a DOS prompt so I can install linux and map a network drive to a CD install. Any bright minds out there?!?!?! :?
rFayjW98ciLoNQLDZmFRKD
1) Try an external cdrom/hdd 2) Get/build a laptop ide to normal ide cable and install linux on a desktop machine and transfer the disk.
