Okay

Maybe where the Latest episode is. Replace the youtube with a static image, get rid of the ugly subscribe buttons replace them with links.

or to sum it up. Like this

I tried to do this in wordpress before for my own show. But never had much luck

Note: I got lazy and didn't read anyone else's feedback so excuse me if the topic has been beaten to death.

I think the structure of the site seems perfect, thought I doubt that colour of orange, especially acting as a buffer to the white and blue.

It would be nice to see it as a 75% width-of-screen stretching template with a nice patterned background. And make the bare-minimum width 800px as usual.

The search field could be better with the white to show contrast within the template. And the slogan of TYTL is perfect with the w2.0 fade. But I would take that a step further and give the whole bar a shine.

The orange.... Well, it seems like a sore thumb in a flawless hand. I suggest choosing a different shade of OJ or a different colour altogether... http://kuler.adobe.com is a nice place to look / create decent swatches.

I enjoy the the content of the orange area and whatnot.

This is how I would see it:

2.0? lol... let's just get on the topic of good design instead of rehashing what we've regurgitated from other sites that _tell_ us what good design is.

I think you've read too many digg.com articles on "web 2.0 styling". Maybe this one http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-2....style-guide.cfm

The point of design is to break barriers and boundries, but, it still takes skill and talent to do that.

The thing is that hak5 is shiny and polished. It's raw and blunt.

  • 1 month later...

The orange would be much better in my opinion if it was lighter. It seems the orange is too dark making my eyes believe it is brown. If you were to change that, it would be swell. Also maybe add some scanner lines or I do not know on the orange too.

I made a design a while back too :)

I went for a darker theme :) I'm also a Web 2.0 nut so its pretty much to standards.

I like your look very good. Im a fan of the dark looks of sites. White is like the pro codemasters. Not that Hak5 isn't. But the dark look brings Hak.5 down to the ground. If you understand...

this reminds me I had a Re-Design concept that I made and never uploaded.

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/48209352/

It could use a little more polish, but its just a concept.

Sorry if I'm keeping a dying topic alive, but, if I had my choice, I'd have to go with yours psycho, seems more easy on the eyes, only thing lacking is a link to the site's IRC, sure that could be worked in somewhere though (surely enough space beside the Forums link, besides, that'd fill up that little empty gap, seems like there needs to be something there)

No offense to Ecky, whom's dark design I lean more towards because of the colors (I like darker stuff). However (even though I hate admitting it) I think that it would be to drastic of a change (in color anyway) for the page. Maybe sorta too fast a transition from lighter colors to darker. Great job otherwise Ecky, wish that the page woulda been a little darker to start with (love the design.)
