kukach
Hi, I got Tetra about 8 months ago and only had time to play with it in December. I upgraded to 2.02 the latest firmware. Everything is seems to be ok, but I'm not sure exactly why the Recon is coming to 100% of scan time and never display anything. As it seems the radio module is completely dead. Red LED is never on, except a little bit during booting time. I wrote my request in the bug section but never got any attention. Could anyone help me to troubleshoot? It might have happened because of RF extra hack, available in the download modules section. But I'm not 100% sure what happened. Thanks

Did you already try a factory reset? and if that didnt work did you try a Firmware Recovery? https://wifipineapple.github.io/wifipineapple-wiki//#!troubleshooting.md
kukach
I believe the name of the extra software model, available in the download section (in the device interface) called RF hack. But I'm not 100% positive that this software has anything to do with the problem. I tried to reflash to original, manufacturing firmware (so called stock), then I tried to reflash to the very old one. Nothing worked so far to solve the Radio problem. Any troubleshooting procedures to determine if hardware is functional?

Maybe it was the HackRF module, that allows connection of a HackRF SDR to the pineapple. No that shouldn't do anything to your radios. 11 minutes ago, kukach said: I tried to reflash to original, manufacturing firmware (so called stock), then I tried to reflash to the very old one. Make sure when you do a firmware recovery you flash using the factory firmware not the ones from the downloads. Failing that can you ssh in? if you type "airmon-ng start wlan1" does the red light start blinking? kukach
thanks for the idea on ssh. I shall try it tomorrow. If it does start blinking, does it mean that the Radio hardware is 100% working? Or it is only meant that the processor can talk to Radio module? I'm concern that something damaged the RF part.
Just_a_User
Just now, kukach said: If it does start blinking, does it mean that the Radio hardware is 100% working? Or it is only meant that the processor can talk to Radio module? If it starts flashing red it means wlan1 is in monitor mode. When doing a recon it should automatically start blinking red, as you said it isnt its like it cant get into monitor. We dont know why yet, but if you try via ssh you may at least get some error message or something showing up on dmesg or logread.
kukach
Ok, this is what I found with ssh. Nothing is blinking and: root@Pineapple:~# airmon-ng start wlan1 Found 1 processes that could cause trouble. If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after a short period of time, you may want to run 'airmon-ng check kill' 3916 root 1368 S grep wpa_action\|wpa_supplicant\|wpa_cli\|dhclient\| PHY Interface Driver Chipset null 802.11abgn ?????? non-mac80211 device? Just_a_User
Dont see wlan1 at all. What do you get with "ifconfig -a"

Foxtrot
I assume you mean the HackRF module. That module is for use with a HackRF device, and has nothing to do with any WiFi interfaces. If your issue still persists after a firmware recovery, then please create a support ticket.
