PixL Posted October 26, 2017 Share Posted October 26, 2017 It isn't anything to do with filters it just seems wlan2 is unstable, it does it with 2 different wifi adapters so it's not that. Does anyone have any other battery recommendations for a Canadian? yes that will work make sure you use a y cable and use both usb ports on the battery or you can use 2 single cables as both micro usb ports on the pineapple accept power. the max output of the battery is 4.8a which is perfect for the Tetra. PixL Posted October 31, 2017 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Each time I set txpower down to 20 wlan2 seemed to be fine for a while and then when it dropped I noted it had reset to txpower 30db. I've edited /etc/config/wireless as below adding the option txpower '20' to try and make sure it stays at 20. config wifi-device 'radio2' option type 'mac80211' option channel '11' option hwmode '11g' option path 'platform/ehci-platform/usb1/1-1/1-1:1.0' option htmode 'HT20' option txpower '20' I will either update later saying all is good or if this starts to fail again I might give up and buy one of the wifi adapters from the hak5 shop instead! darkmatter0 Posted November 4, 2017 Share Posted November 4, 2017 It could likely be overdriving the adapter and the driver doesn't know how to handle it gracefully. I've damaged usb micro cables and also the tetra micro jacks, luckily you can power it from either usb micro port. I also get about 12 hours out of this powering 6 tetras at once. After a short time, the pineapple just rebooted. I verified this in further tests, mostly it happened after activating the PineAP function (Allow Associations, Log Probes, Log Associations, Capture SSIDs to Pool , Beacon Response , Broadcast SSID Pool ) and a scan for wireless networks. The pineapple was connected directly to the original power supply during the tests. Furthermore, I was connected via USB to the ETH port. Currently I have the latest firmware installed on the device. To eliminate a problem with the installed plugins, I reset the pineapple. After that, I had the same behavior. Can someone reproduce this unusual behavior ? It sounds like a power issue from your description but as you used the 12V 2A power supply it shouldn't be. If you have another 12V 2A supply handy you could try that to rule it out. If your only powering the tetra with your pc usb ports then it most likely is a lack of power like Just_a_User said. You need to either use the power supply to get full power and you can still use the usb to connect to the pc, or you need to provide enough power via 5v battery or batteries. The Tetra is kinda power hungry so when it doesn't get enough things stop working or dont work at all. You need 18-24w of power which the 12v2a (24w) wall power supply will give it, or use external batteries to reach 5v4.8a (24w).
