I have had my Tetra less that 12hrs. i have reset it and update the firmware more times than i care to think about... The issue happens when enabling PineAP it seems ok then the gui goes unresponsive and reboots (following this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHnQwTCKe2o).  I finally managed to get something form the  uart console the would indicate a Kernel panic. not sure where to go from here, so any help is appreciated. Before you ask this is powered with the wall wart and also the y usb cable too from laptop / USB powerbank / Anker charger. The pineapple reboots over and over and it seems, that it doesnt boot finaly. How can I do a factory reset? FAQ says, "reset from a fully booted WiFi Pineapple" or "from the web interface". N1ghtCap Posted September 12, 2017 Share Posted September 12, 2017 So I've had the Wi-Fi pineapple for a little while now, and I've been having a problem consistently that within five minutes the pineapple crashes and reboots. I thought it might have been due to specific activity, but just turning the pineapple on and letting it sit it still crashes within about five minutes. I've tried doing a factory reset multiple times, and after doing a little bit of research I thought it might be a power supply problem, but after trying the battery and the wall charger to no avail it would seem as though that's not the problem. I'm starting to think I may have got a lemon, and this is a hardware problem. Anyone had the same problems? If so have you found a way to fix this? The symptom does sound like power tho, I have experienced similar in my early days when starting out with the tetra. One thing you may wish to try would be a firmware recovery (different to a factory reset) and see if that solves your issue - make sure you use the 12V 2A supply for that as you don't want to bork the flash and end up with a brick. I get about 15min before reboot. After reboot I can reconnect (wp6.sh) and sign in at the GUI, but anything involving wlan1 will not work until the unit has been without power for some time (cool down? although it does not feel hot). Since it seemed like a power issue initially, I have been giving it as much as I can (Y-cable to the ETH port, from the hosting laptop(kali), Y-cable to a powered USB hub (with no computer hooked up to it) to the UART port, and the AC wall adapter. The system log in the GUI seems to only show results for the current session so its hard to see what may have caused the reboot (if there is a to log SSH to on the system that may show more that would be helpful) So, I too am at my wits end. Ive tried a different computer, again with Kali installed, and everything seems to be pointing me towards the hardware. In my most recent attempts I have just been starting it up, starting PineAP and just let it sit until it goes into a reboot (which I just watched it do) If there is anything I am doing wrong, anything I should try, or if this looks like a problem with the hardware I would appreciate hearing about it. I would like to get a portable battery for it. The one that comes with the Tetra Tactical is not offered on Amazon Prime in Canada. I was looking at this one instead:  http://amzn.to/2fEgOOX Will this work with the Tetra? b0N3z Posted October 16, 2017 Share Posted October 16, 2017 The Tetra needs 18-24w of power to keep it running without reboot or crash. 2 usb ports on your pc will not provide that much power. It comes with a wall plugin (12v2a = 24w) so you dont have these kind of problems. if your going to use just the micro usb on the back of the device you will want to use a battery that has at least 2 usb ports at 5v2.4a and use the y-cable provided. Both micro usb will provide power to the tetra and dont worry about using to much power with a 5v power supply because the tetra will only draw what it needs to run without overpowering itself. RT5370 Wireless Adapter Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub It is a Racksoy 802.11n I got from Amazon. I can set it up, connect to my own router wpa2 wifi connection with the PSK etc. and all is well for a while but the stability it patchy even when i'm 10 feet away from the router. It will sometimes lose connection and when I try client mode again it finds no SSIDs to connect to but instead says "fail". Also sometimes when I start up the tetra wlan2 is not initialised and the lights on the usb adapter are not lit. Â Any thoughts? Â Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
b0N3z Posted October 23, 2017 Share Posted October 23, 2017 how are you powering the Tetra and do you have problems with anything else besides just wlan2. It sounds like the PIneapple just isnt getting enough power to power it and the usb wifi.
