omega_ion
I upgraded my internet connection today to Verizon's 50 Mbit download speed :) Took a test on SpeakEasy and got this: Last Result: Download Speed: 50126 kbps (6265.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 6757 kbps (844.6 KB/sec transfer rate) I'm not exactly sure if there's any way I can fully use my new down speed, unless anyone has ideas. cooper
Try your provider's FTP server. Most have them, and they're likely to be really close to you which should allow you to reach excellent speeds on them.
VaKo
Screw FTP, get yourself a usenet binaries account. Even on a 4mbit connection it tops 1000kps so faced with a 50mbit connection your computer will probably orgasm.
burn
holy crap that's fast! your ISP should have a newsgroup server that you can download from and since it's on your local network you should get incredible download speeds.
cooper
Ever notice that newsgroup posts are split up into smaller parts? The best way in my experience to achieve good speeds is to have long, continuous downloads. Not 100 kb chunks after which you need to ask for the next chunk. JoshuaH
How much is that costing a month?
omega_ion
$89.95/month its only available where they have laid down the wires for it though, you have to check if its available near you at the Verizon FIOS website
JoshuaH
Thats actually not as bad as I thought it would have been. I doubt I would really need anything that fast anytime soon imo.
