hardcoded Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I've tried two different SD cards and one USB stick, I continually get write errors on storage that prevent anything from working via web UI. I used a brand new SD card for this test. I did a full firmware reset (nano_factory.bin) and then upgraded to 1.1.3 via UI. I popped in the new SD card and used the format option from the interface. I installed a few modules and was up and running. Suddenly the device stops accepting clients and recon will no longer work. I checked the logs and see the write error. This has happened with 2 different SD cards (different manufacturers) and a USB stick. Please advise. Bus 001 Device 005: ID 05e3:0745 Genesys Logic, Inc. THEPACK76 Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I'm wondering if I am having the same problem. I at first couldn't install any module. I posted on the forum, you guys suggested an SD card. I got a 32gig one, formatted on the software as told. I installed the modules on the SD card. But I can only capture a few packets with the site survey. I try to download the results. The NANO freezes. Was hoping to use this at a presentation Wednesday. Freaking out a little. Any thoughts? Zylla Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 This is a classic example of the SD-card bug that several people have experienced with the Nano. After a lot of research and debugging i'm confident that the problem lies within a kernel-module(s) or the hardware of the Nano. (I still haven't tested SD-cards with another chipset to rule out hardware issues.)But yeah. My solution to this HUGE problem was to take out the SD-card, and then use a normal usb memory-stick, and mount it as /sdMaking the Nano behave as if the memory-stick is the SD-card.

THEPACK76 Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Blah I have a presentation Wednesday. This is gonna really help take it home. I need to try something, then do that. Another user suggested taking a usb stick and formatting that and mounting that the /sd but I'm not sure of how to do that . Linux masters, little help.
THEPACK76 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Just wanted to update. I bought a 16gig SD card, thinking a smaller one would work better. So I am going to reset and try again in the morning. I also have a friend coming over tomorrow that knows linux a little better then I. He says he can help me try to the trick formatting the usb stick and trying to mount that to /sd If anyone has any thoughts, words, prayers, suggestions. I am open to them. Really hoping I can use this device for my presentation Wed. Make or break for me. Thanks

Have you tried a firmware recovery of the device? not a reset but firmware recovery? https://wifipineapple.github.io/wifipineapple-wiki/#!troubleshooting.md
THEPACK76 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I followed your instructions, so far so good. What I decided. The site survey seems to be the most unstable on the sd card. Right now I am only using the DWALL and the Evil Portal in my presentation. Running them off the internal storage and so far everything is stable. I figured I can do the same thing the site survey does on my kali linux with the panda wifi usb I have and airodump, replay and crack tools. Thanks to everyone that has been helping. Hopefully I'm getting closer to a good presentation Wed. Crossing fingers. Thanks Anthony

Zylla Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Please try searching the forum, i know i've answered this question several times before. But it's very time consuming to write the same ting over and over. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, it's just so much easier. If you're accustomed to Linux, you have probably mounted a specific partition from a device to a directory before. 🙂
